Sorry about your rejection but honestly I am not surprised. It has nothing to do with your evidence but the fact that you are from Palestine.

I would be interested to know the reasons for refusal.

I will be very interested to see what the reason is. They might have the stronger ties to Oz or lack of incentive to return to home country.

I would be thinking the same thing Mish. If it appears perhaps they are attending an event related to work and possibly looking for work.

It's not about racism, the department has criteria they need you to meet to satisfy them that you are intending to leave when you say, and not overstay.

This is necessary and unfortunately some countries have a higher risk of overstaying than others. Your evidence to show you intended to leave and that you have good reasons to return to your country may not have been strong enough.

Did you supply things such as rental lease or letter from employer or family to support your claim that you would be returning after the seminar? These are important things for tourist visas from high-risk countries.

You need to understand also that a visa is not your "right", it is a privilege.

Also - no you could not live as a king for 2 months on $9000 in Australia. Australia is a very expensive country. I don't believe money is the issue here anyway. I'd suggest it's lack of incentive to return, or lack of proof of incentive.
