Question Police check

Hello. I am from the UK and currently in the process of applying for a de-facto visa. I requested a police check for the purpose of immigration (code 33) and the certificate I have received back says it is for a name check only and there are no disclosable court outcomes in the records of the Australian Fed Police or Aus State or Territory. Is this correct? There is no mention of the UK where I've spent most of my life. Can anyone please advise? I'm wondering whether or not I've completed the correct form. Cheers.

Where are you applying from? It sounds like you have applied to the Australian Federal Police for a police check? For the UK you need to apply to British equivalent.
'Name check only' is as opposed to a check via finger prints.

If you have followed the requirements as outlined on Character Requirement - Applications & Forms and remember that is for every country you have lived in for more than 12 months in the past ten years or since age 16 you should not have a problem.
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/char...cter-penal.pdf
gives the details of for submitting requests to the different countries and each country needs to character/penal clearance certificate applied for individually and their own regulations followed.

If you are actually in the UK now and put in a request and it is the UK police that have come back with the statement re no record in Oz., it does sound like some wires have been crossed for the UK police certificate should advise about the situation in the UK and if you have been in Australia for more than 12 months you need to apply to the AFP for a certificate here.
