de facto visa

Hi I am applying for a de facto visa , i am in a same sex relationship, i have four weeks left on my tourist visa . and from what i understand i must apply two weeks before this visa ends for the de facto visa ? i have done my medical but due to past history of depression have been asked for a phcyatric/ phscology report which is proving harder to do than i though as tho i got a referral letter from the doctor at the medical exam when i ring pshciatrists they say i still need a referal from my gp.? also my police check from ireland has not arrived and i have read that i cant put in my application with out this .? i have no record that i have applied for this.. was wondering if anyone can help or has been through the same problems . im in the melbourne area .. thanks this hole process is nerve racking

can you get a referal letter from your GP back home? maybe one of your parents can get it for you. or go and talk to a GP here. Also you can apply for the visa without having your police checks or medicals to hand in so dont worry about that.

hmm, is it true you must apply two weeks before the tourist visa expires? I have not seen anything about this in the booklets or papers I have read. We we planning to apply for de-facto about 5 days before my tourist visa expires so if we need two weeks then our plans might need to change...

hi there ... thanks so much for al the responses so good to hear other views ... i was certain that you could not apply for the de facto visa with out having the police check in hand .. i know medical you can wait until asked for it . but thanks and will check that out tomorrow . as for applying with in two weeks of other visa expiring ...i cant remember where i read this however when i think of it it makes sense but will look into that also tomorrow and get back .. if anyone else has other information that could help i would really appreciate it .. panic stations here ..lol.. thanks again ..

I think you'll find a two week reference when applying for an extension to a tourist visa but if you are on a tourist visa the main thing is not to have a No Further Stay condition on it for that prevents you from applying anytime.
It does seem strange that you can have a referral from a MO that is not accepted by others and have you tried contacting the MO to see if they are aware of that and if there is something that can be done.
