I'm sure it'll be ok you have ages, and I haven't heard of a situation where somebody has missed their flights waiting on a bridging visa. I will let you know how I go with approval and we can compare notes

Thanks all for your responses. I called IMMI and the guy i spoke to couldnt even find any notes or anything to see they have recieved the application. I was instructed to email the partner processing email and we got a bounce-back to say a whole lot of nothing except that it could take up to 4 weeks for a response! helpful considering we are going in 3!!! starting to stress as i bought the tix back in September thinking we had plenty of time (processing for the visa averaged 6-9 months back then!) and i could actually afford them. :-s

I am now thinking i will just go down to the Parramatta office and apply in person as i have this nasty feeling that they have "lost" the application or something.

will keep you all informed if i hear anything at all!

Hi guys

My BVB got approved today

Just FYI;
1. I travel in 3 weeks so the 2 week rule mustn't be true anymore

2. Just put my reason as 'visit family' - that must have been enough!

3. My visa is multiple entry and for 6 months

Let me know if you have any more questions

Does anyone know if you can apply for more than one BVB? There is a clause in the one that I just got through that says:
" If you are in Australia after 20 September 2014, this bridging visa allows you to remain in Australia, but not to travel overseas again, until your substantive visa application is decided."

Can I apply for another BVB to extend this?! I want to go home for Christmas

Yay! That sounds like mine should also be approved just for family visit. Glad you got it a bit sooner! I guess it depends how many they have sitting in the pile to be processed

In the ask mark thread, he responded to me about BVB and said you need to re-apply if you travel again. So I guess yes, just have to pay the fee again grrrr
