Recomended agents/companies for skilled immigration visa?

Hi,
Im currently in Perth, Australia on a 6 month tourist visa and im wanting to start the process of my skilled immigration. Im 24, from UK and a welder by trade.
Does anybody know any companies or agents who you've had experience with and that are good to work with?
Also how much did it cost? and whats the normal price of the whole process for skilled immigration??

Hope to hear from you soon

Steve

There are plenty of agents about but make sure one is MARA registered and it will also be best for you to study the immigration regs a bit yourself so as you at least have some ideas of what to ask an agent and also what questions you might expect thay would ask.
Start with considering whetyher it is the independent or employer sponsored route you will be eligible for, details via Workers - Visas & Immigration and then you will also in the first place to check whether your tourist visa has a No Further Stay condition.
A PR visa is about $3000 by the time you add in associated costs and an agents fees are possibly in order of $2000 - 3000 .

Hey, thanks for the advice Wanderer. I'll be sure to ask about the MARA registered.
The visa that I'm eligible for is the Independant Skilled Migration Visa, 175 i believe?
Sorry if this sounds a bit daft but what is the PR an abbreviation for?
I've had a few qoutes from a few companies, and they are coming back at around $6500 all in all. Which is probably the going rate from what you said as well.
The ones i've spoken too and that seem pretty helpful are migration-australia. com and migrateaustralia. com.

Has anyone dealt with any of these? and are they recomended?

cheers

PR is permanent residency and any agent at a first interview [ some apparently offering them for free ] should advise you that even if you have no NFS condition on the tourist visa, applying for a 175 will mean there will be no bridging visa and so you would have to leave Australia at the end of the tourist visa or get some other visa.
The 175 could also take quite a while for granting and you may be better to seek a state sponsorship for a 176 application as soon as the State Migration Plans get up and running as that will mean your application will have a higher priority and be processed quicker.
Alternately, if you can find an employer prepared to sponsor you, that with top priority would be even quicker and you may not have to leave the country straight away for that visa to be granted, it depending on that NFS condition situation.
You can apply for an employer sponsor visa [ most are initially a Temporary Residency or TR visa, the 457 ] whilst you are awaiting a 175 or 176 visa to be processed.

If you have trouble finding an employer or do have to leave because of a NFS, have you also thought of doing a Working Holiday Visa for that will give you 12 months in which to seek an employer to sponsor you and you can even stretch it out to another 12 months by doing three months of seasonal regional work and applying for a second WHV.
You do need to be abroad when you apply for the first one.

If you have various pressure welding tickets etc. to go with your welding qualifications you'll need to see about having those accredited and with that done there should be a good chance of you finding work in the oil/gas development area, a fair bit of fly in/fly out from Perth.

To cha 222

This is in reply to cha222. I am in the same situation with this agent and I have posted a complaint to the MARA. Is there a way to get in contact so we can further lodge a complaint together? Thank you. I'd like to discuss this further.

I and my boyfriend hired an agent last year to help us lodging a 175 skilled visa. After stressful months trying to reach our agent by phone, email, or surprise venue, we found out that she did not lodge all the papers we gave her. The australian computer society was asking for more documents, for weeks, and she didn't do anything.

We were lucky: we could explain our situation and save our application (5 days later and it would have been lost), but now we want to complain to the MARA.

If you know anyone who would have used their services, please let me know as a shared complain may have more impact to the MARA.

Thanks guys and good luck for your application.

Hi Nomada. I have befriended with you in order to be able to send you a personal email (It seems that there's not any MP on this forum).

Just tell me if it worked, otherwise I'll give you my email here.

Thanks !

I'm not absolutely sure but it could be that PMs are one feature excluded until you have five posts.
