Angry Morocco PMV

Hi everyone,

I'm an aussie engaged to a moroccan guy waiting on this fricking PMV to be accepted!! CO was assigned 1 June 2010 at the Australian Embassy in Egypt. Medicals and Police checks were front-loaded but an AOS and local police check were requested (I think we gave a federal police check). The AOS was completed on the 8 June 2010 and the police check was received in Egypt on the 13 June 2010.

I decided to use a migration agent, not so much to help us with the basics, but to present the application in a professional way and to show that we are serious about each other (incredibly expensive as well so it better help!!)

I'm just getting SO FRUSTRATED!!

We lived together from oct 08-may 09 and from nov 09-feb10. I've been in Aus since feb without him and it is driving me INSANE
I'm a student working 2 jobs and I don't have the money to pick up and leave..

GRRR EVERY TIME I contact my migration agent it's the same story!! I know 4 months isn't much compared to some but i'm going insane only talking to him online!

I know the embassy in Cairo is horribly slow, but does anyone have any recent information about Moroccans and PMVs?? PLEASE??

A lot of visas are going slower at the moment and the Morocco/Cairo factor is slower than most for the partner visa, perhaps more joy with the PMV but one big slow down for visas from what are referred to as High Risk countries and Morocco being one is the external security check that ASIO do for Immi and that at the best of times is nominally a six month exercise.

You may have heard about all the people smuggled asylum seekers coming across from Indonesia and all those people are lined up for external security checks too and you may be able to imagine doing theirs will be somewhat more difficult, all sucking up limited resources and hence one of the main reasons for slower processing.
You can read more about those in the same boat @ http://www.australiaforum.com/visas-...n-9months.html

Hi ForeverWaiting,
Hope you are ok. I am in the same situation as you. My husband is Tunisian and we lodged our spouse visa application on May 23rd 2010. All checks were completed and came back clear, interview was completed mid last month and it has been exactly 3 weeks since the interview. No more documents are needed from our end and they are in the process of finalising everything. I don't if I'm impatient or not but I am missing my hubby like crazy and if I could stay in Tunisia whilst waiting I would however work and study prevent me from doing that.

I also used a migration agent who was very helpful. Although I did the initial research and knew what I had to do, I was happy to use him/her as they both made the application nice and neat.

Did you have to do an interview?

I hope you receive an answer soon.

Regards
Rio

Apparently, the ASIO check was not requested for him and he didn't need to do one. I'm assuming because he has never travelled and has only ever stayed within his country. What I recommend doing is asking the embassy whether your partner needs to do one.

Definitely ask the embassy if you have any questions as they have been extremely helpful to me. Ask for dates and time periods. Hubby missed the interviews in May also but we decided to go to the embassy directly and schedule an interview because December is way too long for my hubby. He is Tunisian so it would be a bit harder to travel to Morocco for the interviews. I also wanted to be with hubby at the interview to support him and he wanted that too.

The only thing I must show is patience....

I thought all immigrants needed an ASIO check? My fiance hasnt travelled out of his country either..

That's really annoying because I asked for interview time periods and I got an "we'll contact you when we organise it".. not even an approx date!! Also I asked if the interview could be conducted in french or arabic (because he doesnt speak english), but i speak fluent french.. and the reply was "when we organise it we'll let you know.." GRR

Apparently not from which I found out. My husband has been to Libya one time but that is because he had family there and he was like a kid. To be honest, I don't know how it is decided whether an immgrant needs a check or not.

I will be honest with you again. The interview MUST be conducted in English so if your fiance can't speak English, you will need an interpreter for your fiance. If you can't find an interpreter, the interview won't go ahead unfortunately.

Hi Trishher,
I am completely stunned. I was told that all interviews had to be conducted in English? Why would my husband have to conduct his interview in English andyours in Arabic? Gosh, sometimes I wonder if there is one standard process??

How is your husband by the way? Where abouts are you from in Oz? I'm from Perth.
