onshore de facto visa application

Hello!

I'd like to know if there is any possibility for an applicant on a tourist visa (with No Further Stay) lodging an onshore application? I have read all internet advice on the waiver for Condition 8503, but the change in circumstances is unlikely to happen (other than if a civil war breaks out in the applicant's home country while she is in Oz).

We are thinking of going to Oz for an extended holiday (driving with a campervan for a year) and lodging our de facto visa application during that time.

Furthermore, I don't think I can stay in the applicant's country for much longer. I have had no luck in finding a job here, and my one year tourist visa is running out. I shudder to think that the immigration officials in my current country and in Oz are going to break up me and my de facto (we have been a couple for 30 months now).

Any ideas?

I suppose the thing to be doing will be to lodge the application offshore and then see about a tourist visa for your partner in the meantime, a trip abroad to NZ or wherever being required for the offshore visa to be granted.
