I believe Pakistan is one of the longest. Have read on here recently that it's taking 2 years plus for some. Security checks seem to be the main cause of delays.

Thanks for ur reply, hmm 2yrs plus even though everything is done and the interview and everything it may still take up to that long? So the interview is no indication that the visa may not be far off or...i thought by ticking everything off it ment that its nearly over =S

It's my understanding that the security checks are something that is completely out of the control of Australian immigration, and it is the country where the applicant is from where these checks need to be done that causes the delays.

Immigration may be pretty much done with assessing your application but until those checks are completed they can't progress it.

It may well not take that long for you, but I have just read of others on here recently waiting extremely long times for these checks and I know that one of those countries was Pakistan.

Here's hoping it doesn't take anything like that for you

Aw thanks for the links yea i understand and also being a high risk country i guess thats a process they have to undertake, i checked out the links and yea many people in the same boat and here i am complaining about 9 months...after i had my interview i did ask the lady asking the questions after where our application was at she said that the security chks all came bak as positive and hav been cleared so im not too sure what all that means they may hav just brushed me off haha well i guess its all a waiting game which is kind of unfair not being allowed to be with your partner but all we can do is wait thank you so much for your help!

Count on 18 to 36 months as ASIO have a lot to check on with the country you are from plus that country is very slow in processing. Blame not the Australians, lay blame on your country.

It seems to vary a lot.

I had a very straight forward Skilled Regional application for a Pakistani couple who had been living in Australia for a long time, which took over 14 months to complete, mainly due to the security checks by "external agencies".

Then I had a offshore partner visa from Pakistan, which was granted in 5 months. The applicant was female though. I'm not sure if that makes any difference in regards to security checks.

When it comes to these things, unfortunately there is little you can do, but wait.

I don't think it was his intention kangaroo to be racist or offensive sometimes there are miscommunications when not being able to hear tone in an online post.
