Hi all,i have applied for a parent bridge visa,i think everything is going ok at the moment,i had a shock the other day when i see a letter that i was sent by the child support agency, saying that i own them just over 8,000,my problem is i am due to go over to Australia soon but now i have this debt ,i just don't know, will the CSA get me in Australia and make me pay from there,or will it just bugger up my plans ,they will know that i have moved to Australia from my X,anyone have any ideas please, thank you.

I don't know about whether or not they can "get" you from wherever you're from, if you're in Australia... But if you have debts for child support I'd say morally it couldn't be a great idea to skip out on this even if you think you can get away with it.

Moving to another country does not absolve you from debt you owe in another country.

This is my opinion only and I really don't have any experience other than my husband having overseas debts that we continue to pay even though he's now in Australia - he's still responsible for the debt.

To be fair asking if the CSA will 'bugger up your plans' did sound a bit like you were hoping to make a quick getaway! Yes they will pass on the info I believe. you surely knew how much you owed for your child though - CSA would have informed you of your payments in the past? (Can you guess some of us might have heard this all before ? ). What's a Parent Bridging visa btw?

If you intend on paying what you owe, then why are you asking if they can find you and make you pay? Wow, it's child support. Pay it.
