Applying with expired passport

DEAR ALL,
I've got some issues with my military services, so my passport will not be issued until it ends. Unfortunately on this occasion I will miss limit of 30 years of age. I've got my expired passport, is It possible to lodge an application with expired passport and after 4-5 months (definitely too far before the time probable visa would be granted!) I deliver valid passport. I've read somewhere this isn't a basic need for applying but I cannot tell it is accredited.
Thanks...

You do not need to supply your passport when you apply for a visa and you normally supply a certified copy of the personal details pages.

So you means certified copy of an expired passport is OK.?
Besides I remember for applying online, there is some question about the validity of passport, i.e when the passport will expired?! You suggest me how to fill in these gaps?

No, you supply a copy of your current passport and as for online applications you just upload whatever is requested.

Dear friend I don't have passport...
My current passport is expired, as I wrote on the title line!

I know that my case is full of complexity but I make it...

My current passport is expired now and I cannot request for another because according to country's rule, I have to finish military service at first and after that new passport will be issued.

Is it possible to send application with that expired passport?

Derar Wanderer
Today ( 22 nov 2010) i got approval from immi SA !!!!!!!!!!

Now i have some question regarding this

1- SA immi saying i should apply within 30 days to DIAC(still the SA SMP is not signed by the minister??),so is it nessesery to apply before 22 dec 2010 in my case.

2- I too applied for Victoria SS on 14/11/2010 and i got case ID on 18 th. How long it will take to approve Victoria SS , I prefer VIC SS because there are lot of vacancy for my occupation.what you think that i will apply with SA SS or i will wait for VIC SS(if they aprove before 22 dec 2010)

3-Also my kids(2) passports are expired last week and i applied for renewal ,that i will get it only after 40 days.is there any problem to apply DIAC with expired passport ? and when i get new one i can send the new PP details again? is that will do.

Your prompt reply will be greatly appreciated

It seems SA and yourself could be jumping the gun a bit.
According to Immi, SA are yet to have their SMP approved - State Migration Plans
Perhaps they are expecting it to be so within days/next week.
If you read the Immi info on the SMPs, I think you will find that once you make an application for your visa, the state/territory have the 30 days in which to notify Immi of your sponsorship, hence SA advising you to do that.

You can check with the Vic. site to see if they have any indication of how long they may take to process a sponsorship, the more applications they have the longer it is likely to be and given that no doubt many people have been waiting for activation of SMPs they may be flooded with applications.

There may even be people like yourself that cause unneeded clogging of systems by putting in multiple applications and all you do is cause problems for others so may that approach bite your backside.

What you may want to do with applying is a decision for you and should involve some planning for the future and then you may not end up with multiple applications and be in a quandary over a sponsorship for somewhere that may not only suit you but wastes time and money for not just yourself.

You may find having a valid passport is a requirement for visa applications.
