Applying off shore

My BF is going to applying for the Defacto Visa in December but we have booked to go to Australia in February to visit my family and go to my brothers wedding in Bali. It says you cant be in Australia when its granted if you lodged outside of Australia. How do you know if you are aloud to be in Australia then or not.

I have spoken with Global Help and also received a confirmation email from my CO that an applicant is permitted to travel to Australia on a tourist visa whilst the spouse visa is being processed. My CO asked that we keep her updated on our travel dates. She said that we would receive an email when the decision is ready to be made and at that point we would need to advise the dates and destination of where my partner intends to be offshore, it doesn't need to be the same country as where the application was lodged. Not all overseas Missions have an immigration section so you need to double check in advance if the Australian Mission in the country you intend to be in has 'evidencing facilities'.
