Please advise

Hi Everybody

I need some help in regards to my recent completion of one year Australian work experience. I am 25 years old and I have been studying and living in South Australia since March, 2008 and I have completed my Master degree (2 years degre-fulltime) in Social Work in December 2009. I have been working (Partime & Fulltime - minimum of 22.5 hours to 37.5 hours/week) since 30th September 2009 (started my work while holding my Student Visa and currently working on the briding visa) as a Service Coordinator (similar to a Social Worker Role) for SA Government.

ATM I have got one year Australian working experience. I applied for the Temporary Visa 485 in March 2010 (still waiting to know the result!!) and I am currently holding a bridging visa A. Is it possible to get South Australian state sponsorship or I could apply for any other visas due to my gain in one year Australian work experience. Please advise. I have given an IELTS last September and the result was 6.5.

Very much appriciate your advise.

MM

You need to have a look at your eligibility in total @ Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) visa (subclass 886)
You will see that in having done the appropriate study, experience is not a mandatory requirement but if you are looking to get extra points because of Australian experience, that needs to be post qualification.
Obviously you will also need to have your qualifications assessed.

If you acrue 100 points for state sponsorship and a state has your occupation on their State Migration Plan, then it should not be a problem.
Have a look at the processing priority and recent information via the What's New Link re applying for state sponsorship skilled visas for with the SMPs there are some changes implemented

Hello Wanderer!

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes my Social work degree has been assessed and I am eligible for holding the AASW membership (which is the requirement for the skills assessment - which is been done already).

South Australian state has started accepting for state sponsorship.

I would like to know the process timings for the subclass 885 and 886? do you have any idea about this? Does state sponsership 886 is quicker than 885? Please advise.

If the occupation is on their SMP as approved by the minister then an 886 will have higher priority #2 as against a #3 for an 885 if occupation is on SOL#3.
Proccessing times are always going to be a matter of how many applications of higher or as high a priority have been received and what numbers of higher priority applications continue to be received.
At a guess, a year give or take a few months may be somewhere near the mark but then it could be give or take more than a few months.
