Need an advice regarding de facto visa...

Hi, I have a couple more questions for you... getting my papers together to apply next Jan, but there's just one thing... I moved to Australia on the 22nd of Jan (as per my TKT from Auckland to OZ), though the first doc I have with my name and address in Oz is from the 25th of Jan when I got a receipt. Anyway, my neighbor is writing one of those stat dec saying that I've been living here since the 22nd, etc, etc... besides, I have an email sent to my partner with my flight details saying that I would be arriving on that day, etc etc...

My first question is:
- 22nd of Jan, 2011 will be a Sat, when, of course, offices are closed... I'm going to NZ to apply for my visa as I have a NFS on my current visa. Do you think there's any chance they would accept my application on Friday, 21st (1 day before our 12 month together)?

- I'll have to apply for a new tourist visa (so I can come back to Oz and wait till my visa is granted). Do you think I could apply for this tourist visa while I'm applying for my de facto, telling the immigration agent that I want to go back to Oz to wait for a decision as I have a place to stay (and still have enough money on my bank account to stay there as a tourist), or should I apply one day for the tourist visa and then come back on the next day to place my de facto visa? I've been a few times to the Immi office in Auckland and it is a small office with prob 2 or 3 officers so I'm just wondering they would recognize me anyway... besides, there's always that little hope that my de facto visa will be granted on spot, which would save me a few hundred dollars... any thoughts???

Sorry for bothering you but I've learnt a lot through this website and now that it's only 3 months to finally apply for this visa, I want to make sure nothing is gonna get wrong...

In flying over to NZ, you will want to arrange a flight at least a few days before your existing visa expires for to get on a flight to NZ you will need a booked flight out to a country that you have a right of entry to, a number of options:
. you rely on getting that on the spot partner visa and if it is not forthcoming you can then apply for the additional tourist visa.
. if you do not leave yourself a few days, what some people do is to book a refundable flight from NZ to Fiji and then once you have entered NZ and know what you are doing and have a visa to enter Australia again, you cancel your flight to Fiji and fly back here.
As for submitting a defacto partner visa earlier than a full 12 months are up, I'd not be risking it.
