So true! Kenyans are taking 18 months and more . We were absolutely ecstatic that ours only took 9 months. That was very quick in our opinion for a Ghana applicant

Hi suchislife u can see at the top that collegegirl was asking the type visa. I applied for visa 190 which took less than 3 months to get. I was adviced by nigerian friends who applied for 189 and 190 to try as well cos they got their visas in less than 6 months as the pcc system has become upgraded in recent time in 9ja. I was also adviced to do my Pcc in Abuja and not Lagos. But the time interval cant be the same for all of us even if we r applying for the same class of visa, circumstances and luck play a major role.

You can find the details of your visa here, under the Visa Holders tab:
Maritime Crew visa (subclass 988)

It appears that while in Australia, you can only perform work that's involved in the operation of your ship.

You would need to look at the various visas on the DIBP website to see what you may qualify for. It takes quite a bit of research, but once you narrow down your options, it may make it easier to ask more specific questions or you can then search through the forum for those visa types to learn more.
