457 with partner who is not my wife?

Hey guys,

Myself and my girlfiend are currently on working holiday visa's which are due to run out in Feb 2011. I have been offered sponsorship by my employer which would be great as we can stay on in Australia and hopefully aim towards citizenship.

We have been together now for 2 years and arrived in Australia together 9 months ago. We lived together for a year before we came out here.

Now with the 457 visa I would like my girlfriend to be specified as my partner but I have never actually separated from my previous partner. I have started the divorce proceedings but this could take anything up to 3 months.

Does anyone know if I can have my girlfriend stay on my visa even tho I am still married to my ex?

Hope someone has encountered this situation before,

Many thanks,

Yes, you can have a defacto partner while still married.
It'll help to have a statement about the separation and evidence of divorce proceedings and you'll also want evidence about your existing relationship to include.
