work experience and qualification not in same field

Many many thanks for the support you are giving to 1000s of people like me.
I would like to migrate to Australia under 'Skilled – Independent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 175)'.
See below my details.
I did my bachelors’ degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering(4 years). After that I am working as a software Engineer in India - Database developer - 4 years of experience - full time job.

I am concerned about my work experience and qualification. My qualification is in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, but my work experience is in Computer-IT field.
Is this a problem?

I calculated points as follows.
Age - 27 (30 points)
English – proficient (25 points)
nominated skilled occupation-IT - (60 points)
Specific work experience- 4 years of exp - (10 points).
Total - 125 points.

Is the point calculation correct?
Will I get 125 points since my qualification and work experience are not in same field.

I read other forums and saw some similar scenarios. I checked in the acs website also. But I cant see anywhere that I need 6 years of exp if my qualification is in a different field.

Please help me...

Many Thanks

You possibly have two options and addressing the ACS one first seeing you are considering that because of experience, have you read the Pre Application guidelines via ACS (Australian Computer Society) - Membership, Professionalism and Leadership for ICT Professionals and the ICT Community for that has explicit detail on what are accredited or recognised courses of study and reference to the different application modes, A or B dependent on your study and then years of experience which are again dependant on the IT content of the course, ie. it being considered a Major component or not and again they have detail on what constitutes that.
Likewise there are requirements re the experience you have and whether your course is related to your experience etc.
For your engineering course to be recognised you may have to have that accredited with Engineers Australia Ι Engineers Australia Home and that opens up the other option:

Applying as an engineer for when you look at the points for experience in a visa application the skill definition is:
•at a skilled level in your nominated occupation or in a closely related occupation on the SOL.
It comes down to whether your Software Engineering/Database development experience has involved sufficient engineering content to be considered as skill in engineering or the occupation is closely enough related, that decision largely being whether you are using engineering principles or you have become more of an IT person.

But either way, if you get an IELTS score of 7 and have three years of experience within the last four to match up with an occupation worth 60 points, your score will be 125.
You may also want to consdider getting a state sponsorship with a state that has your occupation on their SMP as that will give your application higher priority for processing.
Have a read of recent announcements on the What's New Link you'll find under the Professional stream of skilled visas.

Thank you so much for your quick and detailed reply.
I checked the website and it seems like I am not eligible now. I will have a close look again.
