With all the changes for the SMPs if you want to apply for a new sponsorship it will mean that you need an occupational assessment where an occupation is an SMP and you would also need to apply again for a visa.
If you have a read of what's on the What's New link you will see a reference to not being able to switch to the SMP if already having applied for a 175.

No, your existing visa and sponsorship will not mean you are under the SMP.
Have a look at the processing priority information via the What's New link and I think you will find whether Toolmaker is on the SOL#3 or not will determine your priority.

If Toolmaker is not on the SOL#3 I think it will be Priority #4 that you will be on.
If it is on SOL#3 you will have priority #3.

But I heard from some Sources that, If your Occupation is on the SMP and if you possess an Sponsorship from that State, your case will be under priority 2???
If not then who will considerd in the Priority 2?

Mine Occupation is not on SOL, so currently mine is 4th priority, I have recieved sposnsorship from SA, so i am eagerly waiting for their SMP, since SMP will broader than SOL, chance of my occupation to be in the SMP are good, if it happens, Minecase will be treated under prioroty 2???

Waiting for yoour reply

OK, just had a re-read and I had confused myself with what was on differnt announcements, easy enough to do with the number and so yes, if Toolmaker is on the SA SMP, you should get Priority #2.
As explained on http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...-july-2010.pdf and also confirmed on http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...statmig-fs.pdf
Quote:
Existing Visa applications
Applicants with an existing visa application in an occupation which is included on their nominating state or territory’s Plan will receive priority in having their application processed.
Sorry for the confusion.

Thx wanderrer...
Now Since NT has announced its SMP, i found, metal machinist, sheet metal workers in it...is tool maker same as the the above trade???? if yes, i can apply for a sponsorhip from NT (even though i have SA sposnsorship).........
becoz, even if you are a toolmaker, your duties will include machinist duties..............

Yes, I know what a Toolmaker is as I've worked with them as well other trades and they are under separate classifications - A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information
You would first need a new assessment, then get a sponsorship and then apply for a new visa.
