Smile Bringing my Italian Girlfriend to Australia

I have been reading through the forum over the last month or so now, there is a heap of great information and i have picked up some really great tips.

I feel its time now to explain my own situation and see if someone might be able to add to what I have already learnt through the forum.

I met my girlfriend while playing professional sport in Italy over the last 2 years. We have been together for 1.5 years now,10 months while i was in Italy and the last 6 months or so I have been in Australia. I have been searching a new career path and while she has been in Italy. I got a new job this week so we both decided its time for her to come as we have some secure income now that we can live off while she is looking for work.

I realise we don't have enough legal documentation for evidence of a relationship for defacto or partnership visa so we have decided it would be best for her to apply for WHV and work and live together for 12months.

My question is what do to after the first 12 months and when in that first 12 months should be start doing things like opening joint bank accounts, registering our relationship, joint insurance etc to build up evidence of a relationship? I mean would it be wise to start doing those things after the first few weeks she was here or is it better to wait, as the purpose of the WHV isn't to live with a partner its to Work and have a holiday in Australia.

I want to get the process right so we can hopefully have a hassle free transition from WHV to PR, Partner, or Spouse visa.

We are really in love and the last 6 months has been tough, so we are really excited to start living together in Australia and making our lives here.

If someone could give me some pointers on our situation that would be great!

Thanks in advance

There's nothing wrong with her getting the WHV as that will allow her to apply for work and perhaps when she is first here, she could go and do some WWOOF Australia Official Website, a couple ofweeks at a time in regional areas to get a total of three months and then she could apply for a second WHV if still young enough and shoulkd be no problem in you getting 12 months together, perhaps a relationship registration or who knows, you may even get married and can apply for a partner visa one way or another.
But keep records right from the start, open a joint account if you want to and have her join the local library, some sporting clubs etc., anything that shows she has a common address with you.

Thanks for your reply Wanderer.

I have read a lot of your posts on the forum and got some really useful information. Good to know too the 3 months of regional work doesn't have to be done in one block and could work out well because the job I picked up is in regional VIC so I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities down there with the WWOOF program.

Thanks again.
