886 Confusion

Hello Moderator,

there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding the 886 visa. I understand that I must obtain sponsorship from the state before applying for this visa..and this is where I am confused.

heres some info that may help you with answering my question:
citizenship- canadian
graduated from a australian university
have studied and worked in australia for 2 years
currently in australia, brisbane

I am looking to get state sponsorship and the govt always seems to give me different answers each time i call.

So now apparently they are saying registered nursing is not on the eligibility list and therefore I wont be able to apply. Is this true?
How is this possible when the state has a massive shortage in this occupation?

thank you.

Each state government will have developed their in demand list from their own research for their particular state.
If Queensland decided they do not have a shortage that could be different from other states.
As it is, it seems Queensland is deferring to the Immi occupations list - details for sponsorship eligibility @ Eligible skills for onshore students and graduates
