Yes, you can marry while he is on a student visa. Are you a citizen or a permanent resident? If not, what visa do you hold? If you're a PR or a citizen, you can sponsor him for a spouse visa - but if possible, I'd suggest waiting at least three months after your marriage to apply as you need time to collect evidence that you're living together, sharing finances, etc.

OP is on a student visa, so partner visa is not in the game. Probably the bf can be a dependent on her student visa.

Thanx for replies
Yes my doubt is regarding student dependent visa......how much time does it take ? And being on a tourist visa doesn't raise any problem ??

Drramz - are you saying that YOU are a dependent on someone else's student visa? If so, I'm not sure if you can add a partner to your visa. You'd need to possibly ask Mark Northam, using the "Ask Mark" sticky thread at the top of the forum.

If YOU are the holder of the student visa (meaning you aren't a dependent on someone else's student visa), I think you can absolutely add a partner and I think he can stay in Australia while that happens. You can get information on how to do that here: How to Apply for Dependant Family Members to Join You

Did you declare him when you applied for your student visa? From the DIBP website:

"Important: You must declare all family members on your application, even if they do not plan to travel with you to Australia. If you do not do this, your family members will not be eligible to apply to join you after you have started your course in Australia."
