189 specifics

Hi guys,

Just wanted to clarify a few points about the subclass 189 independent skilled migration visa requirements.

1. Is my spouse required to undergo an IELTS test?
2. Do we have to present our Birth Certificates, or will Passport and National Citizenship certificate suffice?

Thank you for your feedback.

Your spouse only needs to undergo the IELTS if you want to avoid the secondary fee which is due if they can't demonstrate English proficiency.

From the information listed under the Document checklist for the 189 visa, it appears Passport + National Citizenship certificate would be sufficient, although this is just my opinion based on what I've read on the DIBP website. Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
