Talking new visa application, help & advice needed

hey there,
this may be a little a little long winded but please bear with me, any advice would be appreciated!

So, i did the online assesment to see wether i would qualify for a working visa to move to australia.
I have been training to be a mechanic for a few years now, and am hoping to complete one last year to gain my IMI level 3 qualification. i know i need to have work experience to get the visa so i aim to immigrate in 2 years. when doing the assessment i filled it in based on my future situation of full qualification and 12 months work experience.
I am in a same sex relationship and we have been married for 18 months. we have a 7 month old son together.
my wife is a hairdresser, but this occupation is no longer on the list.
because of this, our visa application has come up, based on my job, at 110 points (10 short obviously).

i heard in the past that having children can give you bonus points on the application, the test i took didn't allow me to add our son so i dont know if this is true or not? and if so, how many?

so, im wondering, if our son will tip the scale for us and up us to 120 points, and if not, what is the best (quickest/easiest??) way for us to achive the extra 10 points to get us there?

my wife was offered a hairdressing job but they wouldnt be able to sponsor her. if we both find jobs will that help even without sponsorship?

i also have a sister who lives out there, she is just about to be granted residency. she wouldnt be able to provide for us so a family visa isn't really an option, but would it help our workin one?

basically, any info that we can get will be of huge help.
we returned from having a christmas holiday there, yesterday, and we really dont want to be in england any longer than we have to! it took years to convince my wife to move (I have visted australia many times before, she only resently), but now she loves it so much we dont want to hang around for longer than is vital!

if our current ages help, i turned 30 in december, my wife is 25 and our son is 7 months old.

thanks in advance, and again, apologies for the long essay!

It would seem it'll take you a while to get to a situation where you may be eligible for a visa, the first thing to be done with any skilled visa is getting qualifications assessed.
The points system is to be altered as of July this year and so you'll need to assess yourself against that and have a look at the information via What's New? Recent Changes in General Skilled Migration , having a child not giving extra points and the options you may be best to consider are either getting a state sponsorship via a SMP or seeking an employer to sponsor you , both of those offering a higher priority for processing an application.
Some states for sponsorship could look for two or three years experience though you may be able to find an employer willing to sponsor with less experience.
That could be for TR but that may lead to an employer prepared to do a PR sponsorship or it could allow you to get the additional experience for a state sponsorship.
