176 state sponsored Visa granted

Hi every one,

I have received my grant letter today after for more than a year awaiting for the outcome. It's a big day for us. We are all very happy and don't know what need to be done next for heading to Australia.

Wishing all others who are still on the waiting list will be successful on their applications.

Congratulations and one of the first things I'd do now is compile a list of all that has to happen for your leaving [ things to be done in home country ] and arriving here, there being many topics common to both, real estate, banking and taxation some biggies.
So you know what state you're supposed to be heading for and so you can research initial accommodation, www.domain.com.au being one site and taxation is easy enough for on arrival you just get a tax file No.- Australian Taxation Office Homepage and most if not all our big four banks will allow you to open an account in Australia before you leave home and you could even transfer funds just prior to departure.
ANZ - Travel and foreign exchange - Foreign Currency Rates & Currency Converter is one and they even have a link there for moving to Australia.
You'll find a heap of other info via Citizenship & Living in Australia
Some airlines, Qantas and Singapore for two I think offer extra luggage allowances for immigrants.

And just remember that you have to enter Australia by a certain date to validate the visa so even if you need more time to organise a more permanent arrival, you need to make a trip downunder to do the validation.

Good luck with the move and all it'll entail.

Thank you wanderer. I need to enter Oz before 6/2010 with my family members in which I am a primary applicant. To validate the visa do we need to come all together or only myself is enough since we got many things to do now?
Is there any resource to find out how long we need to stay for the initial entry as per the regulations.

thanks for your advice

Congrats buddy! How long did it take for you to get a CO? Can you please share the text of the Visa grant letter?

I applied for 176 with SA sponsorship on 12thOct, 2010.

I'm such an impatient person and this wait is testing me. You definitely know what I mean

Congrats again.

I am pretty sure all visa holders need to validate but check with your CO and you could arrive and fly out the same day to do a validation.

Hi dragon,
the letter just states that the final decision was made to grant a visa and the date of initial entry to Australia and they remind that this date is not possible to change. Hope you will get your ones soon

You'll have to weigh in your chances as the main(and perhaps only) applicant through the points test requirement that you'll have to meet for the 176 visa that can be found at:
Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 176)

Also note that every point counts - literally! A State Sponsorship will give you 10 points while you won't be eligible for any points if you're sponsored by an Eligible relative.

I'd advise you to thoroughly assess your chances keeping in mind you current circumstances for the 176 visa. More info can be had at:Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 176)
