Travel while waiting

Is it possible to travel to Australia on an ETA while waiting for a PMV to be possessed? I don't have a CO yet but I do have a valid ETA that allows me to travel and stay in Australia for 3 months. So can I do it even without having a CO just by notifying the embassy I applied to that I intent to travel?

Yes, you can do that but as well as having to take a trip out of the country on three months, you'll also need to do the same to have the PMV granted.
You may want to see about getting a longer six months tourist visa or alternately you could see how you go with a visitor visa application onshore a few weeks before the the first three months of the ETA expires.
You cannot normally seek employment on an ETA or Visitor visa though you could seek permission or perhaps even see if an employer sponsor visa is an option as an interim visa if you have skills in demand.

Thank you very much. But can you tell me how can I find out if my ETA has a no further stay condition? I read the email thoroughly many times and I haven't seen anything written in it. And will a CO be assigned regardless of me being in Australia or it will freeze my application until I get back. Cause I asked the embassy if its ok for me to travel there and they said its fine as long as I provide them with the dates of arrival and departure. It really sucks not having a CO assigned and I know that it will be fruitless to email and ask when they will assign one cause they will probably give me the normal time frame.

An ETA does not usually have a No Further Stay and as for advising the Immi people on your departure and they assuming it may be a temporary trip re the arrival/departure from Oz I take it, that's just so they do not attempt to put a visa grant into the system and have it rejected for you for that'll just complicate life further for you.
Send a Form 1022 in to let them know you intend to travel to Australia and will travel out again when advised that a visa is ready for granting.
Travelling should not affect the visa processing and you can even fo your medical out here if not already done.

So to get this straight. It is possible to be assigned a CO and have my application possessed and submit any additional information but I will have to be outside of the country to have it finalized.

Sorry for being such a pain but I want to be as sure as possible.

Yes, the visa can be processed whilst you are anywhere and it is only that an offshore visa application requires you to be offshore for the visa to be granted that you need to leave Australia to allow that to happen.
