GSM 885 - Computing proff NEC - re assessment for ANZSCO code

hello

i selected 'Applications and Analyst Programmer ASCO Code - 2231-17' by mistake while lodging 885 one year back, because i showed australian exp for the same and trying to be more specific.

my degree assessment says i a am ICT Recent Graduate ASCO Code - 2231-79

Now my case officer has given me a chance to re assess my skill assessment ? if i get my required anzsco code i will get lucky..

1. What are the chances to get required anzsco code. Is ACS lenient in that, should i do it my self online or go for an agent (asking $750) if he/she can make any differnece..

2. can asc give me some other anzsco code then what i have selected in re assessment. are people with 2231-79 getting new codes they want.

3. Can i fix my application to correct 2231-79 as my nominated occupation and then reassess my skill assessment.

In pain..... feelin like my life is getting ruined all of sudden after settling down complitely in 6 years.

It's not so much about ACS or Immi being lenient but they having their regulations to adhere to in making assessments of qualifications and visas.
So ACS can only really assess you on what qualifications and experience post qualification you have and I somehow doubt that an agent can make that look all that different for you.
When it comes to Immi, regulations are set by legislation and it seems you are being given a chance to come up with an occupational assessment to match that which you claimed in your visa application, the onus being on applicants to get it right.
It may be that pending what you can achieve with ACS, you will need to consider a new application for you cannot change your occupation once a visa application is submitted.
If you are already employed have you considered whether your employer can and is willing to sponsor you and go for an employer sponsored visa, even if just as an interim to get your classification and re-application sorted.

unfair ACS re assessment

Thanks wandrer,

my case officer seems to be a nice guy...

I talked to ACS and they asking me to do re assessment in the form of new skill assessment.

I worked as an analyst programmer for 1 year before lodging my initial skill assessment (working till now as well). I could have shown that 1 year of exp. in my initial skill assessment but i did not because at that time computing proff -79 was enough to get a PR.

Now if i ask them - can i give that old exp. in re assessment they saying NO to it.

Thats soo unfair.. if i could have a magic ball to see the future i would have shown my job exp. that time.

I cannot comment on any decisions advised to you from ACS or Immi for as I've said they have their regulations and they make their decisions accordingly.

You should have worked your skills in such a way that all duties were covered and presented to ACS.Now since you have NOT shown analyst programmer earlier , this may pose tricky questions while going for reassessment.
However, since you are not left with any other option therefore in my opinion,i am not a legal advisor, go for assessment and present all these papers and request to assess favourably and mention that these documents were not given earlier becoz he was not sure whether it were to be given or not because you were going for programmer and not analyst prof. Now since CO had asked for assessment again therefore you are presenting these "additional papers".Give contact nos. ,address and all related information required for verification.

wish i get lucky

strange thing :

my case officer says : in my re assessment for new anzsco code I got the provision to show any experience that i missed in my inirial skill assessment because at that time cp-79(nec) was enought to get a PR.

We all know that ACS will not accept any new documents while doing a re assessment of cp-79(nec)..

So what i did is :
I send re assessment and attached my old experiene and 1 reference letter from my current job and 1 letter to Plede - explaining my sitution, my case offficer's statement etc.

any comments on what are my chances...

Hey guys,

I got my skill assessment reviewed for proper ANZSCO code ( the one i wanted)..
i was having 'computing proff nec' now got 'analyst programmer'

Thanks to this forum, otherwise i would have gone to an agent paying 700$ for skill re-assessment as i was in panic state.

To all the people : please do the re-assessment of your skills yourself NO agent can influence anything even being the proff member of ACS. I am also applying for the proff Membership of ACS and its no big deal.

Though its bit painfull to re do all of my AFp, medicals, Skill assessment and other things as asked by department because my application is picked up now... but its ok untill i get PR in the end.

Looks like it is working out OK for you then, even if it has meant doing some repeats and taking more time.
Good luck with the rest of the process.

If all payslips have been asked for, that is what you ought to supply.
