If you have already applied for a 175 visa, there is no provision to then go and seek a state nomination and apply for a 176 according to information on http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...statmig-fs.pdf

Hi Mr. Wanderer,
I wish you don't mind to hear my story, i will make it short as possible..
1- IELTS, April 2010, min 7 in each module

2- Applied for ACS in Sep 2010, approved Nov 2010 (my agent said the full process should take 8 up to 12 months from September 2010 (from UAE / Egyptian nationality)

3- Applied for 175 1-dec-2010, still no changes in the status

4- 13-Jan-2011, my agent updated me saying Victoria is opening for my position (System Analyst) 261112, and they want to apply and if approved shift to 176 with in 12 weeks (3 month) and another 2 months for the processing, so visa can be granted in july 2011

5- as they said if i stay with the 175 visa should be granted by Dec 2011...

from the link u send above there is no more conversion between visa for all those applied after 1-jul-2010, right?

your advice and opinion will be highly appreciated as i am making my decisions based on these dates...

Many Thanks..

You do not say where your agent is or whether they are a https://www.mara.gov.au/ agent but it is best if you do.
For you to now use a state migration plan listing of your occupation for a 176 visa application, that means a new application and new fees.
As for processing times, I also wonder where your agent gets their information from for have a look at Client Service Charter

hi again Mr.Wanderer,
thanks for your response and for the provided information...
The agent is registered at MARA, and that is why I am kind of confused about having some misleading information..

Actually my occupation is in SOL #3
immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule3.pdf 261112 (system Analyst) as of 5-dec-2010, and i lodged my application on 1-dec-2010... is that right?

I think there is something going wrong with their estimation of time, and this I need to check again... but what I understood from you is that the conversion from 175 to 176 is no longer valid, right?
and my visa won't be granted before at least july 2012 under 175, is this true?

Many thanks,
Mahmoud

The client service charter is a guide to processing but there will always be factors giving variance, not least if more higher priority applications are received, then those on Priority #3 can expect to wait longer.
If you want to opt for higher priority via SMP you need to do that and then submit a new 176 visa application.

Hi friend,

It's not posiible to change the subclass from 175 to 176 so kindly wait for your visa to be granted.
