Adding subsequent entrant to Subclass 457

Dear All,

I am recently got my second 457 visa for next 4 years, I am planning to add my wife and children to my visa. My wife will come immediately to Australia If she got visa but my children will come next year school holidays. How long the visa hold to enter first visit to Australia. I am wondering with in 90 days primary visa holder must reach to Australia but not sure for secondary visa holder. Please someone help me to clear my doubt.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Raj.

ALL visa holders must enter Australia and activate their visas before the "initial entry date" on your visa. That date is determined when the visas are granted. Perhaps have the kids come for just a short holiday or something?

Thanks for your quick reply, Yes my kids will come for short period might be a month.

Sorry Raj - 457 visas aren't my area of expertise, so I can't help on that. Hopefully someone else will come along and answer. :)

457 visas are a little different as there's no initial entry date.

Only the main applicant will have condition 8107 (not ceasing work for more than 90 days etc) but the secondary applicants have no such obligation. I've seen plenty of occasions where subsequent applicants get their 457 visas granted and don't even enter Australia until a year or two down the line.

The ease of the application and whether you should use an agent depends on your knowledge of the system and whether you feel confident in doing it. One point to note is that if they were not included in the original nomination you need to gain permission from the sponsor to include them on the visa.

All the best,
