Payment Decucted Twice from Credit Card

Hi..

This is regarding my clients application for Spouse Dependent Visa (subclass 100 & 309). Her husband is Australian Citizen, he paid Visa Application Charge of AUD 3085 in Australia on 28th April 2014, and his wife's application was lodged on 8th May 2014 in New Delhi, India.

Now after nearly a month, Visa Application Charge has again been deducted from his Credit Card, same amount. We tried contacting Australian High Commission regarding this matter, both in Australia and India, but there is no reply from there side.

What we should do now, how we can apply for the refund of the extra payment of Visa Application Charge.

Please advice us this, Has anyone encountered the same problem as we are experiencing.

Your client? Are you a MARA agent?

Yes I've encountered this before and yes it's quite a simple process to obtain a refund, but there's no way I'm going to say it here now!

No I can't sorry. I'm happy to help applicants/individuals, I'm not happy to help someone who profits from my advice while providing an unprofessional service in direct competition with my company, and helps to tarnish the reputation of my industry.

I took the time to learn how to read and understand the law, then I found the relevant section in the updated professional library every RMA pays a lot of money each year to maintain, I read that section and now I know. If you do the same you can know too

Dear Mr. Adam Grey, Thanks a lot your reply. I agree that I am not RMA, that because I am not Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen, that's why not been able to professionally study Law. But I am not unprofessional, or someone who's only motive is to earn money, I am providing service to people with what all available information on Internet and all the knowledge that I have acquired all these years by my learning. Still with all these things, I know I cant compete the knowledge and experience of RMA. I do agree that all the RMA have to spend lot of money to maintain their RMA status, and they have lot of other obligations also. But Sir, I am no where in competition to you directly or indirectly. I am too small at the moment to be a threat to anyone in the Industry.

Anyways, Thanks a lot for your time.

Kultej, I'm not Australian either so understand the frustration of not being able to register with the MARA, instead I provide support for the MARA registered agents in my company.

What you're doing isn't illegal of course, but it's highly unethical. To charge someone a fee for advice you don't know and then have the nerve to come onto a forum and ask for that same advice for free......Have you no shame? Your client's situation is a very simple issue, it's disgraceful that you don't know what to do about it.

You may be small, but there's thousands like you. The Asian market is almost entirely made up of people like you, completely unregulated, providing shoddy advice and undercutting professional agents. There's large companies globally that do the same. It's easy to provide a cheap service when you don't have to worry about registration fees, insurance, CPD or the higher wages needed to employ an RMA. You are a very real threat to my industry.

I'm now seriously questioning whether I should even post on any forums anymore. Giving people like you the tools needed to continue your 'service' seems like shooting myself in the foot.

I hope you don't decide to give it up, Adam. There are far more real, genuine people you are helping here than there are unscrupulous "agents" like the one above. There will always be somewhere else on the internet for people like him to go to get answers, but there isn't always reliable migration advice available for real couples trying to navigate complex immigration issues. You do a lot of good here. Just my two cents.
