State/Territory subclass 176

I want to apply for PR before July 2011, because after July 2011 I am not eligible.

I have read the subclass 176 pages on Department of Immigration & Citizenship to the best of my understanding. However, reading the content has confused me a bit. Please tell me is my understanding correct with the following points mentioned below:

1. We can apply to any of the state which have my occupation listed on their SOL.

2. PR application and state sponsorship application can be made in parallel.

3. State dept. will send the result to the DIAC with the TRN. The TNR (transaction reference number) will be generated for us when we fill in online PR application.

Please let me know is this true. I do not have much time for ACS assessment and then State sponsorship and then apply because till then I'll cross the July 2011 deadline.

So please confirm can I make state sponsor application and PR application in parallel?

Many Thanks

The states do not have a SOL but their SMPs which will be occupations on the SOL.
2. You need sponsorship first and need to indicate that on your visa application.
3. States have in past corresponded with Immi re the 176 so same should apply.

Thanks Wanderer,

So, I trust there is only sc 175 option for me at the moment. I am sure state sponsorship would also take a few months to declare their results and July 2011 is not too far !!

The state site may have an idea of what their processing time is, usually 3-4 months and the 175 will have a lower priority and once applying you cannot convert to a 176.

Applying for PR either with 175 or 176 visa, you have to finished some stages.

You already checked your eligibility but do you have the evidences like IELTS test result or approval for your occupation? If not the order is

1- Take IELTS test
2- Take approval for your occupation
3- Apply for sponsorship (If you cannot gain enough point for 175)
4- After sponsorship approval, apply to DIAC for PR
