Hi Again Wanderer and thanks for your continued interest.
We've decided in our case the additional cost of an agent is probably worth it, just to reduce my stress levels if nothing else.

We've found a registered agent in Brisbane, thought it best as they are only 20mins away from home there.

The 'initial' costings are £2,200 (UK cash) but it will rise a little and we expect that. The company are very good in my eyes, and we can pay an initial payment to cover the cost of the application, and the agency fee's are payed as it progresses, so you pay at each stage. They also offer an extended payment plan for up to 48 mths, although there's probably a charge there.

My partners parents are making an appointment to see them, they are pretty sharp guys so will want to see all of his licences etc first and if they think it's ok they'll make the first payment as we cant pay from this end.

I've had an email back from them this morning which seemed very positive although he did say there's a few hoops to jump through, but in the main didn't see any real problems..I just wrote him a detailed full account of the situation 'warts and all!" Which he liked..he just said keep to this level of honesty and you'll be fine.

The guy is a registered migration solicitor and registered with the QLD supreme courts and we've checked this out ourselves.

Feeling a bit more positive about things now! but I'll keep you posted as and when.

THX

Oh, Wanderer

You can't buy a decent used car in the UK for £2,200+ !! speaks for itself I think!

Oh, well Wanderer

Just been informed..tickets are booked!! So I'm off mid May..that's it ..lap of the gods and all that...I've got an outbound ticket from Brisbane for August as we're going to Seville, so I shouldn't (hopefully) have too much in the way of border control problems?
