SOL Updates for 2014-2015

Hi All -

A quick news item - it was announced today that chefs, tilers and bricklayers will be added the Skilled Occupation List on 1 July 2014, and that no existing occupations will be removed from the SOL list. The SOL list determines those occupations who can apply for subclass 189 independent skilled visas as well as the earlier version of the 485 visa for those whose first student visa application was made prior to 5 November 2011.

Based on this announcement, any concerns that Accountants were to be taken off the SOL appear not to have materialised - good news for accountants!

Best,

Mark Northam

This is ridiculous. As an aspiring accountant, there is in NO way a shortage of accountants out there. This makes me so mad - there are no jobs for local graduates.

Hi Zaherhh83 -

Several states have state sponsorship available if you have a job offer in that state; still available for 189 visa depending on your points - it was not removed from the SOL this year.

Hope this helps -

Best,

Mark Northam
