Smile onshore visa from offshore

Hi Guys,

I am holding TR in Australia and I am going to India end of this month. I want to file my permanent residency next month. By that time I will be in India is it possible for me to file my 885 visa from overseas. i was thinking it is online so i can do it from anywhere around the world. But now I got a dought that I need to be physically present in australia if i need to file my residency. Do anyone know about this.
