Can I just make a quick suggestion? You might want to look at dates of posts before you respond. The post you are quoting is from almost two years ago, and the poster has not been on these forums since then according to their profile. Just FYI. It's not a big deal.. just didn't want you to be expecting a response from them.

The situation hasn't changed wit security checks however. To my understanding they are still taking at least 6 months - 12 months if referred to ASIO. Maybe make a post of your own if you have specific questions you want answered.
Don't worry, you will get the hang of it in here and people like College Girl are helping you by pointing you in the right direction 8-)

Hi stressed - I also wrote to prime minister, immigration minister, and phoned local MP - it was a waste of time - they too busy with the illegals. we applied aug 2009, denied may 2010, applied to mrt june 2010, finally had interview at mrt aug 2012, remitted back to cairo sept 2012, visa finally granted nov 2012, My partner on 300 visa arrived 27th dec 2012. Unfortunately there is no quick fix but to learn the art of patience and so much waiting, and hopefully you receive the outcome you wanted in the first place. I feel phoning the embassy many many times does not help as i felt that would only get them angry and put the file at the bottom of the pile. I hope you hear good news shortly. good luck
