Unhappy Second stage partner visa.....worried!

Hi. I Have been with my partner for 5 years and and partner visa was granted in about July 2009. We emigrated to Australia in April 2010. We lived together here until August 2010 when I got freaked out, ended the relationship and went back to the UK. I was really depressed at the time and just wanted to be with my family. Anyway, by about October I was missing him and we started talking on Skype again. I came back to Australia about 2 weeks ago. We are not living together again yet, but probably will do in a few months. I guess we are just seeing how things go. I am a bit worried as I will be getting the forms through for second stage processing soon and assuming we are back together, we will not have any evidence of our relationship since August 2010. What are my chances of being granted a permanant visa. Not good right? Even assuming it takes 6 months for everything to be processed, by which point we will have been back together, I definately wont have much evidence in the next 2 months!
What do people think I should do?!

It is going to depend somewhat on when you get the forms and what your situation will actually be at the time you have to submit them, how pronptly you do that probably up to you and you're best just to state it as it is and that you returned to the UK for family emotional reasons and that has given you issues to address with your partner etc.
A temporary rip back to the UK will not be an issue but staying separated will so if you think that is going to happen, the sooner the better and Immi will make a decision on what the situation is.

My wife has just lodged 2nd stage application. Two affidavits in proscribed form required from each party saying you are still together, names and addresses of two referees, plus details of financial, social, living arrangements and "nature of commitment to each other" whatever that means. Plus a Federal Police clearance may be required (costs $43 and takes 2 weeks) as well as form 80 and a checklist that includes details of trips made outside of Australia in the last 2 years plus so there may be complications for the original poster.

Our application was in my opinion perfect, lots of photographs together with friends, copy accounts in joint names, airline and hotel bookings etc but Immigration can't tell us when it will be approved, just the "currently taking 5-8 months" response. Apparently immigration have large backlog due to refugees and the 457 skilled migrant visa program so second stage visa processing is low priority.

Does anyone have any recent experience as to how long 2nd stage visa processing actually takes?
