Have a PhD in cancer research, what kind of visa for a postdoc?

Hi, I have completed my PhD in cancer research in the UK. I want to apply for a posdoc in Australia but I am not sure if I can get a skilled visa. I have one year experience in industry but it was after my BSc degree more than 4 years ago. Does my PhD counts as work experience? I am being paid for my PhD and work more than 35 hours a week. It is pretty much the same as doing a normal science research position but at the end I write up a thesis about my research and gain a PhD. Please help because I don't know what to do.
Thank you very much
Ana

I think to meet the recent experience requirement Ana to apply for a skilled visa, your Ph D would have to be written up as that you were actually employed rather than as being on a research grant or whatever funded you.
If it is further study/research by a PostDoc you wish to do, I think you would be better off applying for a study visa, there being different levels of them and of course you would need to have an offer from an organisation re a course and funding too I imagine.
