minimum wage per annum

hi,

im in the process of sorting out paper work for partner visa that will be lodged offshore.

i had a question in regards to what is the minimum wage per annum i will need for a aos not to be requested?

in some forums it states 30k and in others 20k

i have also searched what the income thresholds are on the centrelink website, for a couple when either partner earns more than $800 per FORTNIGHT then they are not eligible for unemployment payments.... this comes to an annual income of $400*52 = $20800

can someone please clarify what the minimum i have to be earning is???

thanks

Hi Bels,

The threshold they are talking about is the annual amount of Newstart. Right now I think it's about $29 000 per year. If you want a more accurate figure you can call Centrelink up and ask them. This amount increases depending on the number or dependents included in the applicatoin.

This amount is the minimum you must earn in order to satisfy the sponshorship responsibility. If you earn less than this, you may be asked for an AoS.

its dsnt make sense though like i said for partnered couple on newstart

when either partner earns more than 800 gross a fortnight they are not eligible for payments and that equals to a yearly income of $20800

there is approx a 10k difference with the threshold, bugger

Hi again,

I agree. The different income thresholds for singels, couples etc is very confusing. I think it would be best to call them up and ask them. I read on the AoS fact sheet that they will take calls to this nature if anyone needs to know the threshold for that particular year, as I guess it changes with inflation.

i called centrelink today in regard to this

and the first operator i spoke to said 26k per annum for newstart

i called a second time to make sure im getting the correct information as you never know if you are being served by a newbie, second operator had informed me it is 30k per annum

i was confused so i called up immigration to see if they can give any feedback, and the officer had stated that there is no guideline that they follow or are given figure, it is discretionary for partner visa and all upto the c.o to decide.

is there anyone else that has spoken to centrelink regarding this and if so what was the figure they were given???
