Help Needed: Friend's Student Visa Cancelled

Hi All,

Not a very pleasant topic to be posting about...but is anyone able to point me in the right direction of an agent in Melbourne who can help a friend of mine who has had their student visa cancelled today please?

I wont go into excessive detail here, but unfortunately this friend managed to get themselves into a situation where an ex-employer reported them to Immi for working over their allowed hours. Subsequently at an interview today Immi cancelled their visa and gave them 7 days to apply for a new one. I dont know what type of visa they were on, just its a student with max 20 hrs work per week.

I feel they need professional legal help (rather than me trying to help, and I dont really want to get involved) so if anyone can recommend a good agent in Melbourne (preferably CBD or Western suburbs) that would be much appreciated.

Sorry if I am not supposed to post this type of request here. Alternatively if anyone can offer any sort of advice on the forum that would also be appreciated.

Cheers.

He should be able to find an agent via Migration Institute of Australia but by the sounds of things I doubt that an agent may be of much help and I also doubt that Immi will grant a new visa seeing as they have just cancelled one.
The wording re find another visa within seven days is tantamount to book your exit flight or get placed in a detention centre whilst awaiting deportation.
