staying in AUS while de facto is processed

Hello- this is my first post, but MANY THANKS to all who have provided such awesome info in other threads.

I applied for my de facto partner visa while in the US. I will be flying to Austalia on April 6th on a 3 month tourist visa. After that time, is there any way for me to remain with my partner in Australia if my application has not been finalized/approved?

Someone had mentioned bridging visas but I believe that only works for onshore applications.

Does anyone know how long I would have to leave the country for after my 3 month visa is up in order to get another 3 months on it? I was told that they are multiple entry visas but im unsure of how this would work.

Any info would be appreciated. The thought of having to spend MORE time away from my partner is stressful.

It's Oz mate and not AUS and though we'll forgive you that and you're from the US and not Canada and your partner may not be pregnant the same applies as what I've stated on http://www.australiaforum.com/visas-...-question.html
And yes, bridging visas only apply to onshore visas and applying in Australia.
