Hi there
Long time lurker, first time poster. I was hoping that someone could shed somelight on this. Applied spouse visa ( 309 ) from New Delhi , India on April 2017. We were asked to produce medicals in June 2017- later ,after 2 months I was asked for my police check ( AFP) and Hepatitis B report for mrs. We have submitted them like a wk ago and just waiting for the magic to happen.
Has anyone in this 309 visa has got any Information? Any ideas ?

Medicals completed on : 08 May 2017

309 Grant date: 1 Nov 2017
Took 6 months.

All the best for who are waiting for their grants!!!

Happy to help for any queries for your 309 visas!!

Congratulations Mahesh. I am in the situation as you were - Applied offshore 309 online on 10th April 2017, PCC and Medicals were done by end of May 2017. My partner is on visitor visa currently lives onshore.

Now Application status is "In Progress" and quotes processing time as 11 to 16 months. At the time application, the processing time was a lot lesser than this. I am quite unsure what to expect in terms of processing time.

Have you been contacted by CO for an interview or had any sort of communication before the approval? Is it mandatory to leave Australia to get the 309 visa approved or shall we fly back and re-enter Australia once the visa is issued? Any advise would be much helpful.

Cheers Mate

Processing times are just an indication or just information for the applicants. If your application is decision ready and all documentation was good then you can expect an early outcome.

For me, No interview and I have not been contacted by the AHC or by the CO. It was a direct grant for me. It is mandatory to leave australia at the time of 309 visa grant. If a Case Officer allocated and when the CO was going to make a decision he/she will definetely email you to leave the country.

I have submitted hell a lot of documents with lots of proofs so no question on anything.

I had to spend almost a month in preparing the application. I think if the documentation looked great and all the important points were made well then you can expect your grant sooner. It is a waiting game. You can't depend on the processing times.

Also one more important point to make here to everyone is that you won't get notified if your case gets a Case Officer. This was the case around 10 years ago (around 2007 they used to email to let the applicants know that a CO was allocated)
You will be contacted ONLY if the department needs more information or further documents.

Hi,

You can always apply for a visitor visa but you should have strong incentive to return to India.

The visitor visas are a bit tricky as you must provide a strong reason to return. But, as you already applied for a parter visa, it should be added advantage. If you have a job in India, you can provide payslips and a letter from your employer that provide reason to return.

In your case, you can always approach a registered MARA agent to apply.

Previously my wife had a visitor visa refusal before 309 application. Later, I applied Family Sponsored visitor visa through an agent and we got visa approved.
