With the 309s
Apr 2020: 10% took over 17 months.
Mar 2020: 10% took over 21 months.

This could be just a case of the longer term ones not even being granted yet.
If so, that could easily mean longer times after this is over. It depends how long the reduced number of grants continue for.

The numbers of grants for the month would help to give a better idea.
Okay now I understand how it is. I think this information about the processing times can be very misleading for new applicants.

I think they have been open but they say that they have allowed limited staff due to covid. They did reply to a student on there Facebook page saying they are only focused on family stream visas and extending other visas as per need but still only 2 grants have been seen in India since the lockdown in march. They post regularly on Facebook and Twitter regarding the help they provide Australian citizens in India to get back home.

Oh okay.

Fair enough. Priority would be to get Australians back home. That would be the first step in the immediate response roadmap.

How long has everything been pushed back do you think? About 3 months for everyone because no grants in March April and May? The whole timeline shifted 3 month or would it be longer than that?

Someone waiting for a grant in March would now "possiblly" get a grant in June if things start to open up, assuming things sort of get back to normal in June.

Well the sad part about it is that it isn't in our hands. The whole virus situation tested our patience but then I suppose there are a lot of other people in the group/outside in a lot worse situation who have lost a job, a loved one and so on. I seriously pray for them because something like this was totally uncalled for.

It is hard but we all have to stay patient.

This is only a personal opinion and I do not mean to generalise any situation.

I don't think anyone would be able to guess when the grants will start again. But a good bit of information would be to know if passport offices (which provide police checks) have opened again and if the visa medical service has resumed. Another good bit of information would be to know how many Australian citizens, PRs and others exempt who want to go back remain in India (my personal guess is about 2300-3000 but I could be totally wrong).

They are open but they do not have clear guidelines. I spoke to them on the phone and he had to put me on hold to confirm his response with his supervisor and replied that processing guidelines are not available yet. Also, here is a link to the FAQs: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/frequently-asked-questions

Not much transparent info on partner visa processing.
