Partner visa

Hi All,

I need your advice, we waited for more than 36 weeks (8 months). I am frustrated and we plan to apply for visiting visa. Do you all think we should apply for visiting visa or wait for the case officers call.
Could you please share the AHC contact number. We tried reaching the number 01141221000 provided in the website however it went unanswered. We even sent mail but did not get any response.

Visa: Subclass 309/100
Nationality: Indian
Applied: Australian High Commission, New Delhi
Lodged: Feb 10 2014 (Online)
Application Received by AHC: Feb 10 2014
PCC (Indian and Australian) Uploaded with application
Medicals : Uploaded with application
Case Officer Allocation: NA
Requested New Indian PCC: NA

Hey ashy,

Welcome to the Forum

I know AHC's website says that case officer allocation is taking 35-36 weeks since application, unfortunately that estimate is incorrect and the actual current trends of AHC New Delhi, case officer allocation is taking about 38-39 weeks since date of application. So you need to wait for a bit longer. AHC is allocating case officers and granting visas to January 2014 applicants.

Having said that, applying for a visitor visa right now would be your biggest mistake as AHC has granted many visas on the same day a case officer is allocated to an application. And if the applicant happens to be onshore, the file would be pushed back in the pile of hundreds possibly thousands applications causing your horrible delays and I'm sure that's the last thing you want.

AHC taking about 15 working days to grant the visitor visa, you might even get lucky and get a case officer within that time frame. Processing has slowed down because of all the festivals, AHC has been closed for about 14 days in October which obviously is the reason of the delay in both case officer allocation and visa grant.

Another reason why visitor visa application is a bad idea right now is because if you apply now and your partner visa gets approved first then the AHC approves the visitor visa, your partner visa will be cancelled as 1 individual can only hold 1 substantive visa at a time. That would mean you would have to re-apply and pay for the partner visa again and wait for about a year to get the second partner visa application approved.

AHC is closed until Monday October 27, 2014 that's why there was no reply and they closed early either yesterday or day before yesterday.
So have patience and stay in regular touch with AHC.
I'll post back when I find any update.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

Kind Regards,
Becky

No worries, happy to help!
The number you have is correct, just press 1 and 2 as soon as the recorded message starts playing, that'll place you in the queue to speak to the AHC operator. Call again on Monday, I'm sure it'll work then.
Hope this helps. Please do keep us updated
Good Luck!

Kind Regards,
Becky

Hey ashy,

If you're sending in a scanned copy, I think it should be fine. I submitted my original PCC via VFS New Delhi to avoid any dramas that would have further delayed my visa. It also depends on your case officer, some don't accept scanned copy while some do, so you should check this with him/her.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Kind Regards,
Becky

Arrow Update!

UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 2014 APPLICANTS

Hey All,

Hope everyone is doing well. Just updating that AHC New Delhi has started processing applications lodged in February 2014. Two applicants from the other immigration forum got their visas approved within an hour or a day of case officer allocation.

TIP- Make sure you have the additional documents like photos, PCC(s), proof of communication, etc ready. The last two applicants were contacted by their case officers who requested for a PCC and photos of the couple together which were provided to the case officers within 5 minutes of request and the applicants received their visa grant letters within an hour of submission.

Hope this helps. Good Luck to all waiting!
Will post back when there are any more updates.

Kind Regards,
Becky
