an application is assessed in two stages, initial assessment and final.
when initial assessment is done( they check, if all the required documents are there according to the checklist or do they require some additional information) then, it is forwarded to final queue.in final queue, decision is made on the application.

Prospective marriage visa 300

Hi Becky,

I have applied for PMV last july 2014 and the High Commission in new delhi told me that it will take 12 months for the decision.

My case is complicated. I have applied for tourist visa many times and I was denied all the times, except for once when I applied from Bali, Indonesia while I was working there.

Apart from that when I was there in Australia, I have applied for the protection visa(refugee) also, as my life was in threat from my family because I wanted to marry a Australian girl. I was only 21 at that time and being brought up in a joint orthodox family, I was not capable of facing the consequences which may have occurred at that time.

We both are in relationship from last 5 years and lived together for 3 years continuously in places like India, Indonesia, Australia and Europe.

It took us a long time to convince my family and taking their yes before I came back to India.
Now, last year my partner hired a migration lawyer in Australia and explained everything to him. He was very nice and never said that I might not be granted a PMV, neither he says that now.

The only thing is that, there are only 10 days left in 18th july 2015 and one year of lodgement will be finished.
After health and medical, I have not heard anything from the High Commission. Not even a case officer called or emailed us yet.

I am wondering what could happen to my case? We have very very strong proofs of our relationship and we both meet each other quite often and we have given more than sufficient proofs to High Commission.

Could you please put some light on my questions?

Thanks
Lucky

1 year is the "standard" processing time, some most are granted before this time, some are granted after this time, if you run the full 12 months this does not mean you will be denied it just may take slightly longer. There is the possibility you PCC and Medicals may expire requiring you to undertake those again.

If you have not been asked for further evidence of your relationship this is a good thing. Just hold out and i am sure you will hear soon.
