I'm afraid to say that you have a long wait ahead of you. As per AHC New Delhi, the current case officer allocation time frame is 35-36 weeks (roughly 9 months) since date of application. Below is the link from AHC's website:-
CURRENT AVERAGE PROCESSING TIMES - Australian High Commission
At present, AHC is allocating case officers/granting visas of applications which were submitted in January 2014.
AHC's current indicative time frame is 8-11 months and DIBP's global processing time frame is 12 months.

As many people do, you can invite your partner to visit you in Australia on a visitor visa whilst you await the decision on their partner visa; which can be granted for 3, 6 or 12 months depending on the case. The visitor visa will have 3 months maximum stay at a time with multiple entries. It can also have condition 8503- "no further stay" on it which means the applicant will have to get offshore to apply for another visa if he/she wants to be onshore for longer.

Hope this helps. Please let me know is you have any more questions.
Good Luck!!

Kind Regards,
Becky

Hi Becky

Any update on the processing ... are they done with January 2014 applications now and closer or started on February ones? We submitted late Feb

Trip to Delhi is done ... 4 days was ridiculous but wonderful. Our medical is now completed - wish I had known to check before reading this forum. We just assumed it was done and completed. All to repeat the urine test ... Geez!

Look forward to update on where they are up to
Cheers

Hey Sonakshi,

Unfortunately the case officer allocation/visa grant speed of AHC New Delhi has decreased a bit during the month of September with only 14 grants on the other forum I'm a member of.
Out of the 25 applicants from January 2014 on the other forum, only 4 of those applications have been granted so far.

Until AHC picks up its pace of work, the applicants are in for a bit more wait. Also in October 2014 AHC New Delhi will be closed for 4 public holidays, 4 Saturdays and 4 Sundays, with total of 12 days when AHC will be closed. The coming month will only have 19 working days I bet it's their favourite month

I'm really hoping AHC grants some visas (including mine, this wait is killing me now) as they will have more than required days off

Glad to know you had a good time during your visit
Hope this helps. Wish you a timely grant. Please do keep us updated
Will keep everyone updated on the final number of grants for this month on Tuesday Have a great week ahead!
Good Luck!!

Kind Regards,
Becky

Exclamation Please Note!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM AHC NEW DELHI WEBSITE

The phone lines to AHC are currently down until further notice. They have been down since Friday September 26, 2014. The below mentioned notice was removed from their website at 4:50PM IST (AHC closes at 5:00PM) and then again the same notice went up again on the Visa and Migration tab webpage today September 29.

Here is what the notice reads:-
"29 Sept 2014 – Due to technical issues, the Australian High commission's general immigration phone line is down for all calls; incoming and out-going. This message will be removed when the line is working again.
For urgent visa related matters, please email [email protected]"

You'll find this notice on the following link:-
Visas and migration - Australian High Commission

Not sure if there is an actual technical issue AHC is experiencing or if it's a way of not answering the hundreds and thousands of calls of the angry and frustrated applicants who applied for their visa in January 2014 who have been waiting for case officer allocation for over 263 days since date of application now

What makes this situation even worse is that AHC will be closed for 12 days in October 2014 and everyone is freaking out wanting to know how much longer it'll take for their applications to be assigned a case officer eventually getting their visa approved.
If anyone has any information on the current AHC New Delhi's out of commission phone lines, kindly please share with us.
Thank you for your help. Good Luck to all waiting!

Kind Regards,
Becky

Hi Becky
I would think that it has more to do with the overloaded state of the telephone system than a deliberate move by the AHC not to answer people's queries.
If what you say about the hundreds and thousands of calls is true then it is no surprise that the system has failed.
In reality applicantions in India are treated with alacrity when compared to those in North America and Europe, where applicants would be over the moon to think that their visa may be issued in 9 months or so.

Hey aussiesteve,

Not sure if AHC faced this issue before, but in the last almost 2 years that I've kept a track of how AHC functions, this is the first time something like this has happened.

I get your point of the overload but they NEVER reply to any emails the applicants send even when the phone lines were working. And with the phones not working, there must be an overload of emails now. The case officer just ignores the email, no matter how many times one writes to them.

There is absolute chaos in that place all the time! The operators are rude, clueless and not helpful.
It seems like they have no procedure set for how they are going to process the applications. If they are going to put the files in the final queue or if they are going to grant the visa without sending the application to the final queue.
At the moment they are processing paper applications and the online applicants have been waiting for ages for a case officer. So far only 1 online applications has been approved on the thread with Indian applicants.

In every computerized generated email, they claim to grant the visa as per date of lodgement but in reality they always have and still grant the visas as per the date the application was sent to the final queue, but because some applications aren't getting sent to the final queue but are being granted a visa straightaway (which is awesome!) is making things very confusing....Make up your minds people!!!

Predicting how they process the applications is becoming more confusing day by day.

Kind Regards,
Becky

Hi Becky
Sounds like most Australian consular representatives in Asia!!!
The Embassy in Manila was also incredibly hopeless, but I must say that in recent times , since it was outsourced, things have been better.

Regards
Steve

Hey Steve,

Don't they love us!
AHC New Delhi used to be helpful and clear about their procedure but things have started going downhill since late last year
Just hoping they fix their phones before they close from Thursday till Sunday.

Kind Regards,
Becky
