Hi ithendral,

This is usual processing at the high commission. Last time I checked case officer allocation was taking 8-10 months from the date of application so don't worry.

During the wait time, high commission doesn't contact the applicant or the sponsor until a case officer has been allocated to the file.
Once the case officer is allocated and the application is straightforward with no complications, the decision comes along fairly quickly.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Kind Regards,
Becky

How much longer?

Hi Becky,

I called up AHC and they advised last week that case officer has been allocated. No contact was made by the case officer and they have asked no questions yet. Do we know usually how long it takes for the visa grant to come through after allocation of case officer?

You will never hear from the case officer !
Whenever they require clarification or questions answered the dept will just send through email. Even when you have questions you're lucky to get an answer. Bottom line is you will only hear from them when they want something. Processing time varied from person to person. I'm still waiting for my husband to be requested for medical & police clearance & it's been 14 months since lodgement of application

That's true mandalm. They don't usually contact you unless they need something from you. I was requested to do medical, pcc, form 80 and form 1221. I just submitted all that yesterday. Let's see what they want next. It has been over 15 months since I applied for visa. It was once refused then remitted back to DIBP. I hope that would be last thing they asked for.

Yeh it's very frustrating. Even we are in a bad situation at the moment as I'm pregnant & I don't want to deliver outside Australia so I'm having to leave my husband in Dubai for 4 months until I deliver the baby. Don't think the visa will be done by then either so we are going to apply for a visit visa in case. Whenever I try to get answers from the consulate they keep telling me it's out of their control as the security clearance is still pending. So even I'm not sure what I should so at this stage

That really sucks for you. I am lucky to be onshore with my wife at least. I dont know what security checks are. I dont know if they are gonna do that on me. I hope your partner's visa comes through soon. I am just not holding my breath. They are gonna take their time no matter what.
