Waiting on security check from Canberra?

I called up the office where we applied for our spouse visa today and they said they're just waiting on a security check to come back from Canberra (my husband is from a high-risk country) Does anyone know if this is by the Australian Federal Police or a separate agency?

Thank you!

It's more likely ASIO who do external checks for Immi and their resources are very stretched at the moment because of the people smuggling security requirements.
