I'm in the process of applying from Qatar (i'm a UK citizen), and just wanted to know if there are any pros/cons between submitting online through IMMI account, or submitting papers through the local AVAC here??

I'd always go online through IMMI if you have the option. You can continue uploading evidence while the application is being processed. Easier to not have to hand in a mountain of evidence in paper form, if you have soft copies of everything. The biggest advantage IMO is being able to upoad colour scans of your original documents (not having to certify copies of documents, as the cost of that can add up quite a bit).

I didn't realise that. Does this apply to all scans, even with the 888 Stat. Dec. 'certified' ID's?

Huge advantage if so.

With the 888's they obviously have to be witnessed by qualified person as they are a statutory declaration. Then they can be scanned in and uploaded. No other documents have to be certified if they are clear colour scans.

Welcome to the club, Chabayta. Many of us are going on an 11-12 month wait with no visa.

As an update, I'm still waiting on any contact from DIBP. Applied online from the US on October 28, 2016. Looks like I'm not the only one!
