Hi all,

It is an amazing date for me as I just grant 309/100 pr today. When I open the email, I really cannot believe that is true as i only spend less than 6 months on this waiting game.
I really thanks to all of you for those sincere sharing, so I know how to ready enough and right document for supporting.

Below is my timeline for reference.
Application submitted: Apr. 29, 2017 online submission, no agent
First contact by DIBP: sept. 4,2017
309 and 100 visas both approved: Oct.20,2017

Hello everyone. I have submitted the 309/100 visa but I haven't finished uploading all my documents or started on my medical. I wonder how far out I will have to schedule my medical appointment? Good luck to everyone waiting.

Have you just submitted your application? Are you applying through Washington DC or are you elsewhere offshore?

If the answer is yes to both of the above, I would hold off on the medicals and police checks for at least a few months, or until requested by a case officer. From what we have seen on this forum DC is taking 11-12 months on average to process partner visas (I'm not following DC approvals too closely though - just a passing observation). If you do your medicals and police checks too soon, they may expire before they are ready to grant your visa and then you'd have to repeat them.

Hello everyone - I have a question about sponsor background checks for the 309/100 visa.

From reading the immigration website it would appear the sponsor background checks are only required if a child is part of the visa application. We have a 9 year old son, but he is NOT on the application, he has his Australian Citizenship and will soon have his passport.

Our situation:
We've been living in the US for 16 years.
Applied for 309/100 in March 2017.
Got my FBI background check April 2017. State Police check Sept 2017.
Medical is happening tomorrow.
We're flying as a family to Australia in December (I will be on a tourist visa until 309 arrives) so if my wife needs an FBI check we need to make preparations for it now.

Thanks!
Ian

This information is out of date. Since November 2016 DIBP can request (and usually does) sponsor police checks even when there are no children involved.

See sponsor document requirements here.

Thank you! We'll get started on her police checks right away. Fortunately we now know the right forms and contacts from having done mine.
