Have a dependent child and they have been granted visitor visa for 12 months with each stay period of 3 months.

The education of the child is being affected because of the long waiting period. No reply to agent's email from AHC.
The whole process of family(partner) visa process is quite frustrating actually. I’m waiting for 309 since June 2017 as well and have seen some of the members in this forum waiting their visa since May 2016. When the department charges More than $7000 for the visa, least they could do is update the applicant with their application.

I’m sure they have reasons behind slowing down the the process like decreasing the overall intake of immigrant( far less than targeted 190000/year) and political goal scoring or whatever the cause are. However, this has caused so many genuine applicant a nightmare of living away from their loved ones.

Same case here! Applied on May 2017. Got in contact with CO on April 2018 for updates about my dependent. Sent on May 2018 but still no update till now. Worried that I have to retake medical exam again and I have 2 dependents joining me.

Hey everyone!

For those who of got their visa 309 granted in less than 6 months (there seems to be quite a few), can you please tell me if at the time you applied:

1. Were you in a long term relationship at the time you applied (3+ years)
2. Did you have dependent children?
3. Were you already married?

I hear short turnaround times of the visa being granted in less than 6 months are rare, and really only happen if people meet at least one of the three categories above.

I'm hoping there is SOMEONE out there who didn't meet the 3 categories above and still got their visa in under 6 months. Tell me there's hope and a chance I wont have to wait 12+ months!

Appreciate your comments! Thanks

My Situation
I'm an Aussie, my boyfriend a U.S. citizen, we're both living in the U.S. together and had been living together for 1.5 years at the time we applied.
Applied Apr 2018
Police check submitted May 2018
health Check completed June 2018

We applied from US almost 6 months ago.We had been together 2.5 years at the time of application, already married, and have a child together. Not a peep from Washington so far...

That's crazy. I guess it's sort of good to know (well, for me at least) that there's no rhyme or reason for those who get their visas so quickly. Maybe it really is luck of the draw...?

I also guess that everyone's application context is different, with countries applied from, quality of evidence documents etc. so I haven't lost complete hope of getting it sooner rather than later! Hopefully someone can share some positive news..the waiting game is the worst!

Fingers crossed for everyone!

From July 1st 2018, all partner visa applications are to be submitted online. Maybe the department is centralizing the system. I mean maybe all the applications from all over the world will now be processed at one place instead of sending to their respective embassies.
