Hi Guys,
I had applied for 309 visa for my wife in Aug 2018. I am in Australia. She in India.
Now in October 2018, I got an email from CO for more documents
1) Wife PCC
2) Medical
3) Sponsorship 40SP - I had put one. But they said it is old one.
Now wife did PCC & health.
I asked my cousin who had gone through this process 2 years back. He said need to do online.
I did it online. Then submitted.
Now today again CO contacts to Provide a Form 40SP completed and signed by your sponsor..
They have a link and I opened to see Form 40 which is for parents & child.
I am confused what to do.
This time CO has given us just 3 days time to confirm...
Plz help.

Hello form 40SP is for you to fill out for your wife.

Q35Give details of ALL your fiancÚ(e) or partner’s dependent
family members who are included in this sponsorship - here you mention the details of your wife's parents etc

read the questions you'll not be confused then.

I have a question for Aussie sponsors regarding Police Checks:

My wife and I are pretty close to submitting our application for her 309, and I'm trying to figure out the timeline for me to get my police checks as her sponsor. On the Home Affairs website, I've seen one piece of info saying I must provide police checks when applying, and another piece of info saying that they may ask for it.

When would be a good time for me to get my police checks?

My sponsor always provided them upfront when we applied.

Okay, yep that was the page that indicated supplying the checks upfront as opposed to waiting. I guess that's what I'll do. Thanks.

Supply them upfront if that is what is required!

I came across this AAT decision (for visa subclass 485) where the applicant had to submit their AFP check while applying, but instead did so a day after applying - and the AAT affirmed the decision to refuse the visa by DHA - despite the AAT recognising the instructions for applicants was confusing.

Hey don't risk it give it at the beginning of the application it comes out quickly anyway. Provide everything they want to minimise extra items being requested from you.

My partner is waiting on her 309 provisional partner (overseas), she's Thai background. Just wondering who else has had experience with wait times for Thai nationals for 309. We submitted in June, HC was requested 1 week after and was completed Mid July. So the wait is on. submitted all through agent (a good one actually!). Will be updating with more evidence when I travel in December to spend time in Thailand with my partner and her family also. Thoughts?

Processing times

Hello! I am new to this forum (just recently discovered it!).

My partner submitted his Partner Visa on 1st July 2018. We attached everything (A LOT of documentation) and he did his health assessment, all within 1 week of the submission date. The application status changed to "Further Assessment" at that time once the health checks were submitted.

Since then we are just waiting - we haven't received any communications from anyone except the generic departmental receipt of application email at the original time of submission.

My partner is Ethiopian. Two other Ethiopian-Australian couples we know received their visas in 5-6 months of submission (both in the last 12 months). That's the only info other than the official processing time (12-17 months) that we have to go by. So fingers crossed, as we are now almost at 5 months!
