The visa is already in your passport, electronically.
Australia no longer physically stamps a visa in passports.

But I would suggest printing a copy of the visa grant, and take with you, just in case of any difficulties.

But normally, when the immigration officer scans your passport, his screen will show your visa status.

Hello All,

I applied for my 309 partner visa on 6th September. I applied via an agent in Australia, but since my country of residence is India, I am assuming that the application will be processed in New Delhi Australian High Commission.

Has anyone else applied via the New Delhi high commission around the same time?

309 From Bangkok

Good morning,

Just wanted to post to share my timeline from today and to see if there's anyone else sharing a similar situation, especially if you're applying from Thailand.

We have just submitted our application for a 309/100 visa. My husband is Italian and I am his Australian sponsor. We have been together for 7 years, married for 2 years and have a daughter who is almost 1. We currently live in Bangkok but have lived together in Ireland so needed police checks from there as well. I also took the initiative to get a police check from UAE as I was living there within the past 10 years. We have submitted all our evidence with the help of an agent in Australia.

For those applying without an agent, we learnt the following things which might be helpful to you:

- as much evidence as possible dating more than 12 months showing a joint life together. This would ideally be utility bills, bank statements or other official documentation sent to you both at the same address, and ideally in both your names. Our documents from Ireland were not in both our names, but we could show letters addressed to each of us separately at the same address.

- if you're providing photos, they need to be date stamped. We ended up print screening all our photos from our iphone which has the date and location of each. The photos should be of significant events, if possible - travel, weddings, celebrations.

- other people have already said this and I fully agree, do not provide too much information - only provide what is really compelling and relevant. Your application is effective with little of the right content, rather than lots of content which cannot be evidenced.

- we have shared a bank account for 5 years however it is only for savings purposes. We needed to show that we have purchased significant items together. Unfortunately we were not able to do so, however we keep a record via an app of our daily expenses which we submitted in summary showing the payment type (credit card, cash, debit card etc). If you can show you have purchased significant items together (eg. from a shared bank account) I expect this would benefit your application.

- we have a wedding and marriage certificate and photos of our ceremony with family and friends, but the agent still requested additional evidence (eg. wedding invitations, thank you cards etc).

- we submitted 9 stat decs from family and friends to help support our application. We later heard that they didn't need to all be Australian. As long as you provide their colour passport copy and certify the documents, your stat decs can be from non-Australian citizens.

- we have waitlisted our daughter in school in Australia and had to pay for this position. We submitted the letter from the school principle which confirmed we had done so. Our agent confirmed that this was a helpful piece of evidence showing our intention to settle in Aus.

- we live in a hotel so we do not have utility statements or a lease agreement in our names which meant we needed to find alternative sources of evidence showing our life together. We included a letter from both our employers confirming our living arrangements.

- my husband and I took the initiative to provide all our police checks with the exception of Thailand. I included a check for me from Australia, Ireland, UAE and will add in the Thailand one once we are requested to provide it. Our agent warned us that we may need to reapply if the visa takes longer than 12 months to be assigned a case officer. The Police Checks are only valid for 12 months but some can take time to process so we wanted as comprehensive an application as possible.

- aside from the Thai police checks, we only have my husbands health check to do which we will also wait until advised.

- we started the evidence collecting process at end of Jan and I was hopeful we would be able to apply at end of Feb but it took an additional month to gather all the required information.

- all up, our agent said they like to compile 20-30 pieces of very solid evidence before they're willing to submit an application. They have a 100% success rate so we are confident the visa will be approved now that we have applied, however we, like everyone else in this waiting room, now have to wait. It is disheartening to see this could be up to 20 months, however at least our expectations are managed and we just get on with our life here in the meantime.

I will post any updates to our application along the way, and look forward to hearing from anyone sharing a similar situation. I hope the info above is helpful. Feel free to reply to this thread if I can offer any help.

Good luck to everyone in the 309 waiting room!

Thank God! My husband and I just received the grant of our Permanent Partner Visa (subclass 100) a moment ago. Thanks to the All Mighty!
We had submitted our assessment on 13 April 2018. Speedy grant to everyone out there!

But do you have any idea how long is it actually taking for Bangladeshi applicants. Someone said, they got their visa in 6 months. Also please suggest me whether I should apply for a visitor visa or not??
I have applied for my Husband's 309 visa from Bangladesh. Currently waiting 19 months but no update yet. We did the phone interview on December. Since then the Colombo embassy never corresponded. His Medical and Bangladesh PCC have expired though the embassy requested it ages ago. We are married for 5 years and have a child together. Applied for a visit visa as well but as we used an agent, the agent has always told us that there is less than 25% of chances for visitor visa approval without any compelling and compassionate reason.

Usually with a male spouse, things are lot tough but female spouse gets an approve as quick as 6 months if there is no previous history of relationships of both sides.

any update??

[QUOTE=girlygal1;1925483]hello everyone,
I've been following this forum since long and first time posting. I've applied 309 on 13 July 2018 submitted to the New delhi one, front loaded everything but no news yet. But the status used to be as 'Initial Assessment' for about first 3 months then changed to 'Further assesment'. Not sure if that means anything. waiting to reunite with the partner is not easy thing but we gotta do it. good luck to you! all![/QUOTE
